Sharlet's Family, A Depressing Read

I finished Jeff Sharlet's The Family last month, on the flight home. It IS well researched. It is very thorough. It is an interesting and revealing read... but damn, it's depressing to know that so many powerful, oligarchic douche bags are members of "The Family" - and then last month President Obama attended the "National Prayer Breakfast" that "The Family" puts on. Ugh! The more I think about it, the darker my mood gets - so I am going to pretend I didn't read it, or that it was a work of fiction, or that... better yet... a new dawn of transparency and democracy is upon us, devoid of the pure evil that is American fundamentalism.
