More Conservative Endorsements, Please!

It appears that having every right wing politician and talking head come out in favor of a conservative candidate BACKFIRES when that candidate
- doesn't live in the Congressional District in which he is running
- brings in geniuses like Dick Armey who call local issues "parochial"
- doesn't represent the values of the district's voters

Democrat (and Air Force Captain) Bill Owens handily beats Conservative Party (AKA "wing nut") candidate Bill Owens, handily, by more than 4 percentage points.

Every pollster got it wrong. Even Nate Silver, had Owens up by 10 points as of noon yesterday. This translates to: Do Not Trust Pre-election Polls.

Doug Hoffman, and the Right Wing Extremists did not try too hard to win this seat, they only brought in Sarah Palin, Dick Armey, Fred Thompson, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Hush Dimbulb, etc etc. Even John Boehner said he 'regrets having endorsed' Republican candidate Scozzafava - devouring their own young?

I don't say this often, but Newt Gingrich was right. Sit back, and watch the implosion.

  1. and, I cannot forget to mention, how Completely SMUG I feel this morning, with this Resounding Defeat of extreme wing-nuttery, the abandonment of paranoia & hysteria, the embrace of sound logical centrist (even slightly liberal) values.

My faith in the US electorate is slightly restored, at least in Upstate NY.

  2. AND... the east-of-San Francisco, Republican held congressional seat [since 1851 (2 years after California became a state in 1849)] was HANDILY won, by a 9% margin, by Democrat John Garamendi!!

  4. CD 10 has been held by Democrat Ellen Tauscher since it was regerrymandered into Democrats' hands in 1996. Tauscher resigned to take a position in the Obama Administration. Nothing surprising about this one, except that Garamendi, who has national name recognition, didn't win by more.
