tip of the hat to my friend Jill for this gem, from the Queen City - there is hope!

"Zoo pulls Creation Museum promotion"
At least there are Some thinking people in the tri-cities area who were able to get the Zoo to reverse their earlier decision.
"“It’s a pity that intolerant people have pushed for our expulsion simply because of our Christian faith,” Ham said in a statement. “Some of their comments … reveal great intolerance for anything having to do with Christianity.”"
Intolerance? LMFAO! Quick Creationists know all about intolerance! It's not about "Christian Faith". It's about scientific accuracy, intelligence, facts, logic, and having an open mind that religious texts can be INTERPRETED without being defiled. Millions of Christians in the world who are Not Fundamentalists understand that the Earth is more than 6000 years old. A Creation Museum is no more relevant than are snake oil sales, serpent handling, seances, or sacrificing a goat. Faith, sure, just don't combine it with a public institution like the Zoo.

I've said this many times before...it's the age-old Christian Persecution Complex manifesting itself again. These people are very good at playing the victim. They throw a few of 'em to the lions, and all of a sudden they're martyrs.
ReplyDeleteIf the fundies really think we're persecuting them, if they really believe there's a secular War on Christmas(TM), if they really think they're outcasts in US society, then let's help them confirm those beliefs. Bring back the lions...trot the Christians out in chains...fill Giants Stadium with spectators with our own Mutual of Omaha special!
sometimes the lions would lunge into the crowds back at the Colosseum - could be interesting.
ReplyDeleteFundamentalism in all it's forms is pure evil. Whenever a group of people get together and say "our way is the right way, we've got a holy text / vision / sign that tells us it MUST BE this way and cannot be any other" there's Trouble, with a capital T. Some people need stronger elixirs and opiates than others.
