Vinho Verde Espiral
Last weekend, Dr Desert Flower and I enjoyed a nice bottle of Portuguese Espiral. The Vinho Verde region is in Northern Portugal, and this is the first wine we tried from there so we did not know what to expect, but at less than $4 a bottle at Trader Joe's, we thought we'd give it a try. It was light, crisp, refreshing, paired very well with the brie, feta, stilton, and hummus we were enjoying. The Espiral has a light carbonation that enhanced the lemony, peachy, spritzy textures. For $3.99 it was fine. Other wine reviewers liked it as well here (winewitch), here (sfweekly), and here (cheapwinefinder), while Dr Desert Flower and I disagree with Jon & Ted here (2guysuncorked).
