Trader Joes last month was selling Found Object Carmenere for less than $6 a bottle. A young (2010) red from Chile's Colchagua Valley, it was pretty good. Two years ago (was it really 2 years? wow...) I mentioned the Panilonco Merlot Malbec from the Colchagua Valley. Like it's merlot cousin, this carmenere did not disappoint. Carmenere is an under-appreciated varietal that I try to seek out as often as possible. it goes good with spicy meat (asadas, salsas, pepper dishes) and flavorful dishes.
If you like Chilean reds, try a Colchagua Carmenere and you just might like it. Other wine bloggers have also found it to be "drinkable (here, here, here, and here).
