Drumming on one's cymbal stands is not recommended.  It dings up the stands, and unless you're really well mic'ed, no one can hear it. 

As many of Dr Desert Flower's and my friends who are gay call us "Breeders", I found it somewhat funny that this group is also called "Breeders".  Perhaps, years ago, they were on the "leading edge" of that ribbing-the-straights lingo?  I dunna know.
