Lions vs Crocs vs Buffalo

I won't spoil who wins, but I found it a fascinating amateur animal video.  Lions, minding their own business near a watering hole, when a large herd of water buffalo appear.  Lions seize the opportunity for some young tender lunch, and work together... but....  (I won't spoil it).  It get's really interesting around the 4 minute mark.  And all of that activity and organization WITHOUT twitter (hooves & paws don't work so well on keyboards).  [note also, this video is safe for children to watch]

Dr Desert Flower and I saw lots and lots of animals last week - lizards, white tail deer, chipmunks, squirrels, a pika, hawks, osprey, sand hill cranes, herons, trout (that jumped up out of the water), a gopher snake, the loudest yellow winged grass hoppers I've ever seen or heard, and herds of moose, elk, bison (note, not "buffalo") & pronghorn 'antelope' (which are more genetically related to goats than antelope, but you know how Europeans like to name things).  More about those critters later in the week.

  1. That's great. Took the buffalo a minute to get pull themselves together before heading over the to the lions, "Pardon me, but we've just realized we outweigh you, collectively, by about 15 tonnes. We will now open a jumbo-sized can of whup-ass on y'all."

But, more importantly, you saw a pika! One of our favorite animals.
