Has anyone read this book yet? I've heard good things about it, but have not yet had the chance to consume it. [I am hoping my literary ravenous friends Jill or Ron or Matt or others may have already devoured & digested this tome].

ReplyDeleteWell you should have heard of it. It's one of the most sought after books right now concerning health care reform and the search for a better, cheaper health care system. It just came out today and has already hit #5 on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteWhere I live, its amazon sales rank is 160,171. So I'm perhaps less surprised than you that I haven't heard of it.

If you go on amazon.com,(or here, I'll make it easy, http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/books/ref=sv_b_3 ) and look under BESTSELLERS (includes fiction AND non fiction) on its debut day, it sits at #8. So for it to be 160,171 must mean you live under a rock, literally.

ReplyDeleteYeah, people on Amazon are buying Dan Brown & Glenn Beck & Manical Malkin in the US in droves too, so go figure. Popularity never inspired me to read a book - I go for content.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Pyker's neck of the woods, it's not under a rock, though it DID used to be near the longest escalator in Western Europe. It's a nice place to live, with lots of modern conveniences. =)
I hope you are not referring to me as "literary ravenous"! I read maybe 2 or 3 books per year. Must be some other Matt.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually waiting for my copy to come in, although the odds of my finding the time to read it are pretty sketchy. Pretty sad commentary for a librarian, huh?
