Smile? This made me very sad. These magnificent creatures should be roaming free, not imprisoned behind glass. This photograph makes me shudder. I feel that your site Mr P, usually a bastion of common sense, has got it wrong on this occasion.
That being said, I don't know the circumstances of this particular tiger. Might be an injured tiger, or one that is being rehabilitated / rescued after villagers demanded it be killed for cattle slaughter. All the big cats SHOULD be in the wild, but "the wild" is rapidly shrinking and their habitat impinged upon by tasty humans.
